Enrolling with Cascade K-8
How to Enroll with Shoreline’s Cascade K-8 School located at the Aldercrest Campus
Cascade K-8 Community School is a Choice School open to all families in the Shoreline School District. Cascade
K-8 serves the entire school district and is not a Neighborhood School. Enrollment is also open to Out-of-
District families, with preference given to In-District Families. Enrollment is subject to the space available in a
grade / classroom.
Step 1 – Attend a Tour, in person or via zoom.
Parents / Guardians are required to attend a tour to better understand our program. There is no need to sign
up in advance for an in-person tour. For zoom tours or other questions, email info@cascadek8ptsa.org for
the link.
Step 2 – Complete a CK8 Application
After the tour, applications will be available. If interested, complete and return the application to our office
manager. Applications are considered as space becomes available.
Step 3 – Families new to the district AND/OR kindergarten enrollment
Enroll at your neighborhood school. This ensures that you have a spot for the new school year, in the event
there are no openings at Cascade K-8.

CK8 Kindergarten Lottery
Families entering the Kindergarten Lottery are required to enroll at their neighborhood school during Open
Enrollment in February. This ensures that the student will have placement in the event they are not selected
during the CK8 lottery. Check Kindergarten Enrollment FAQ for Open Enrollment dates and other helpful

Families who plan to enroll their kindergartener at a private school or homeschool if they don’t get into
Cascade K-8, do not need to enroll at their neighborhood school.
Kindergarten applications must be received at Cascade K-8 no later than the last day of Open Enrollment.
Both Cascade K-8 and Briarcrest Dual Language Program hold kindergarten lotteries on the same date. The
lottery is typically held during the first week of March. Please check back for the exact date.

CK8 Kindergarten Lottery & Enrollment List Info
There is no registration required to attend an in-person tour. For specific questions about enrollment or to register for a ZOOM tour, please email the parent tour coordinator at info@cascadek8ptsa.org.
When you attend a school tour, you'll receive an application for enrollment at Cascade K-8. Attendance at a tour session is required prior to submitting an application.
If you require an interpreter, please contact our office manager via phone or email at least three school days prior to the tour you plan to attend.
Step 1: Attend a tour in person or via zoom.
Step 2: Turn in completed Cascade K-8 Enrollment Application
You will receive a Cascade K-8 Enrollment Application at the end of a school tour, which can be turned in via email or in person to the Cascade K-8 office manager, Jennifer Seffernick jennifer.
- If you are offered and accept a spot with Cascade K-8, a resident transfer form will be needed to transfer from your Shoreline neighborhood school to Cascade K-8. Please do not submit this form prior to accepting a spot with Cascade.
Step 3: Our school team will periodically review applications and reach out to families once there is a space available.
